So you prefer Bosnian food to Spanish or Basque specialities?
Much more. Don't get me wrong, Spanish food is also excellent, but I prefer Bosnian flavours.

Can you cook it?
Unfortunately not, but otherwise I'm inventing myself in the kitchen. Basically, I rarely eat meat, so I can't make this type of food soothing, but I don't starve when I'm home alone.

So no one has to chase you out of the kitchen. But did you run from the bulls in Pamplona when you were playing for Osasuna?
No. Never! I never will (laughs)! But I've been out there in person for the event, it's an incredibly important tradition for the locals, they really get into it, there's a special atmosphere to the run. They look forward to July all year round because of it.

When you first came here, we were already talking about the fact that your father, Meho Kodro, was a well-known footballer who also played for Barcelona. Did you ever get the chance to try another sport?
Of course, I played golf. In fact, I still play golf to this day when I have the opportunity. It relaxes my mind, the game and the environment around it is very relaxing. Sometimes it's good to get away from it all, and if I feel I need to, I try to go out for a round of golf.

I have played golf once in my life, it was surprisingly difficult.
Yes, you have to concentrate on a lot of things at once. You have to be in good shape and you have to have the right technical knowledge to hit the right shots. When I was a kid at school we played a lot of basketball.

If not for the centre position, you'd have the height for one or two. Did you do well?
I wasn't the last pick (smiles). Basically, if I tried a sport, it didn't go badly, but I stuck with football.

Did everything really go well? Even the winter sports?
Right. I tried snowboarding a few times, but it didn't go so well. Although maybe everyone is a bit clumsy the first couple of times.

Do you have any hidden talents? Will you be releasing a Kenan Kodro solo album after your career...?
No one would miss that! Unfortunately I have no such hidden talents, you won't see me singing or dancing.

But sometimes in the dressing room, there are some pretty steep dance moves after a win.
Funsho dances well! He could have a future in this (laughs)!

So you clearly don't sing, but what was the last concert you attended in person, for example?
I was at a concert of J. Balvin in Porto. Usually I listen to similar Latin, regeaton music, this concert was very good, we had a great time. That was before COVID, come to think of it, I hadn't seen a performer or band live since then.

Who picks a movie or show to watch at home when you sit down on the couch. Your partner or you?
Alternately. But it's never easy. A lot of time goes by before we can look through the offerings and finally click on one. I prefer comedies and action movies, and my girlfriend would more often choose a good drama or a more romantic movie. But at least we agree that if something doesn't appeal to either of us, we turn it off after ten minutes.

Favourite comedian?
Rowan Atkinson, aka Mr Bean! I know, I know, very simple humour, but I love it, he always entertains me.

What is something you would definitely like to spend more time on after you finish your career?
I want to travel all over the world. Of course, I travel a lot now, but either with the team, we go somewhere for the games, and when I have a break, I go home, because I want to spend as much time with my family and friends as possible. When my career is over, I really want to see the world.

Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
I would say my father. He is a role model for me on and off the field. I always tried to take his advice and learn from him.

And who is the most famous person whose phone number you have in your contact list?
Raúl Garcia, who is also a very good friend of mine. He also played for the Spanish national team, but maybe here in Hungary he's not so well known. But back home in Spain he is, he's got over five hundred games and a hundred goals in La Liga. We were teammates in Bilbao.

If you could only choose one, would you rather have the fastest internet connection on all your devices for the rest of your life, or drive the fastest car in the world for as long as you can?
The first! I get a bit annoyed when the system lags. I also like a good car, but I don't speed, I'm not a great expert on cars or engines.

What business are you thinking of starting once your career is over?
I have a lot of things on my mind, although I am confident that I have many more good seasons ahead of me on the field. I'm most interested in hospitality and would love to open a nice little hotel in Spain.

What has been your best experience as a tourist so far?
When we were on holiday in Greece, on the island of Santorini. The food, the Greek culture and of course the sea, everything was very good.

When you tell your family or friends about Hungary, what can you tell them about us? Apart from football, of course.
I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived here, I can say that everyone at Vidi was very welcoming, but I think Hungarians are hospitable outside the club as well. I have been living here for more than a year and I feel very comfortable in Hungary. The only thing I'm not always happy with is the weather (smiles).
